Legend Of Zu, The - C+
By Kage Alan

There's a stretch of mountains called the "Zu Mountains" with a number of martial arts schools established there and housed on huge rocks floating several miles above the ground while the rest are earthbound. An evil entity named Insomnia starts to move against the schools, essentially wiping them out one by one throughout the years. Sky King, the soul survivor of another clan, assists Red when Insomnia moves against the Omei Clan. The Grand Master of that clan, Whitebrows manages to subdue Insomnia long enough for Sky King and Red to slice and dice him up. Unfortunately, part of the creature's essence escapes into the long lost Blood Cave. It's up to the remaining schools to figure out how to destroy the evil before the power of the Blood Cave gives Insomnia the ability to take over the world. Many complications arise as well as a huge number of subplots and it's easier to just give up keeping track of them all and enjoy the spectacles on screen instead. Make no mistake about it, "The Legend Of Zu" is an effects movie. While much of it is gorgeous eye candy, there aren't any performances able to stand out over the effects and there are too many stories being played out simultaneously to grasp them all.
