Butch Camp (DVD Review)  A very butch B
By Kage Alan

The theme song from the opening credits tells us everything we need to know about main character Matt Grabowski (Paul Denniston); he never gets laid. Matt is a wimpy guy who can’t get a date, is picked on by nearly everybody, refuses to compromise his ethics at his job at the bank and just got all of his furniture ripped off by his now ex-roommate. His only chance of ever turning his life around is to go to Butch Camp, run by the domineering German accented Samantha Rottweiler (Tenuta), the real star of the show. Samantha runs an 8 week boot camp to help gay men deal with the “hetero whores” (men and women) who make their lives miserable and she is bound and determined to succeed, whether she has to kick their asses herself or not.

While out on a field trip to infiltrate a straight bar and discuss sports and female anatomy with heterosexual men, Matt meets Janet Cockswell (Jordan Roberts) and her boyfriend Rod Cazzone (Jason Teresi) under extremely embarrassing circumstances. When he flees the scene, Janet finds his wallet and decides to deliver it in person. Unfortunately, she comes on to him in a major way while he begins to fall for Rod, who may or may not be entirely straight. Throw in a lesbian best friend, a gay best friend, a musical number or two, a homophobic mugger, a boss who likes women’s clothing and a plethora of insults from Samantha as she tries to butch up her students and you’ve got a gayploitation film. This film is one of my guilty pleasures!
