Mad Mission III: Our Man From Bond Street (Aces Go Places III)  B
By Kage Alan

While vacationing in Paris, master jewel thief Sam King Kong is forced to evade several attempts on his life. A beautiful spy tries to take him out with a missile, only that fails and he is forced to fight someone resembling Oddjob as well as Jaws (Richard Kiel from “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “Moonraker” actually plays the role). After a daring escape from the Eiffel Tower, something that might have foreshadowed events in “A View To A Kill”, Sam dives into the water only to be snatched up by a giant shark-like submarine. It seems that the Royal jewels have been stolen and the queen would like Sam to steal them back for her. No problem, right?

Knowing that he’s the only one capable of such a daring feat, Sam decides to give himself an alibi using his old friend, the great American/Chinese detective Albert Au. Albert’s wife, Nancy Ho isn’t too happy about this and especially even more so when it turns out that Sam has once again been duped. When the real attaché to the queen shows up (played by Peter Graves in a nod to “Mission Impossible”), it’s up to the gang to work together once more, steal the jewels back and get the bad guys.

“Mad Mission III” once again relies on its humor and chemistry between the actors to succeed. There are fewer gadgets in this entry than the last one, but just enough to where viewers don’t feel cheated. While this entry has a bit more of a coherent story, it’s just not as much fun as previous entries and I think it’s due to more emphasis on the villains than on our bumbling heroes. Still it is one of the better 007 spoofs that I’ve seen right down to the Sean Connery look alike.
