Trio, The - B+ Zobel and his daughter Lizzi are a topnotch pickpocket team who roam around in their trailer going from one score to the next. They need a third party to help them out, only they can’t seem to get a break. Karl, their current partner, is a better lover and housekeeper for Zobel than a thief and when he winds up in the hospital after a botched job, the father and daughter are looking for someone to take his place. Enter young and attractive Rudolf. He’s not a very good thief, but with a bit of guidance from Zobel and Lizzi, he might just work out. Unfortunately, while the number one rule in the group is that no bodily fluids are ever exchanged between them (as in no sex), Lizzi can’t wait for a moment alone with Rudolf to jump his bones and she does just that! What’s good for the goose is apparently good for the gander because it’s not long after that Zobel, unaware of what his daughter has done, puts the moves on Rudolf. Mind you, Rudolf doesn’t help matters out either because instead of rebuffing one or the other, he’s hopping in and out of bed with both of them. Do you think there might be a little bit of tension if the father and/or daughter ever found out? Comedies like this have an awful tendency to turn overly dramatic around the ¾ mark and never recover their comedic momentum. Fortunately, while there are consequences for all their actions and events take a downward spiral, the end is unexpected and fitting. When all is said and done, “The Trio” is a very clever and funny film that is sure to please audiences of any orientation. |
